This suggested RFP language can be used by states that want to include CARES integration requirements when developing their Request for Proposal (RFP) for a state EMS data repository vendor. States may modify this language to align with their specific needs while maintaining the core technical requirements for successful CARES integration.

The selected vendor shall, at no additional cost:
- Support direct submission of specified cardiac arrest data to the Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival (CARES) via NEMSIS-compliant web services.
- Ensure all CARES-required elements are included in the ePCR form design with appropriate validation rules in the user interface and State schematron.
- Support documentation of CARES supplemental elements as required by the State.
- Include validation against current NEMSIS XSD, NEMSIS National schematron, and CARES schematron rules prior to submission.
- Export ePCR records via web service submissions to the CARES registry using the latest NEMSIS data standard version.
- Maintain compatibility with current CARES data specifications and implement any required updates to support future versions.
- Provide technical support for CARES integration implementation and maintenance.
